The film about a Hollywood gay guy who gets 'infected' and becomes a vampire and takes his best friends to Vegas to get away from all of the drama. When there, the situation gets worse, people die, sex is had, and skin is shown. There are a few kooky characters thrown into the mix, but not in too jarring a way. I was impressed with the sound and the score, which for an indy film were pretty good.
Ajay (the yummy Sean Galuszka) has a deliriously wild one-night stand and discovers afterward that he isn’t feeling too hot. Developing an insatiable appetite for blood, he goes on an eating binge but can’t quench his bloodlust. When Teague, who has a crush on Ajay, and Floor, the token straight boy, check in on him, they notice that he looks like warmed-over death. And after discovering a mangled and bloody kill at Ajay’s apartment, the boys suggest that maybe a trip to Las Vegas will yield a solution. Arriving at the run-down Harmony Hotel, the gang meet Sarah and Tia, cute and slutty sorority types who are attracted to the boys but don’t know their multiple secrets. What none of the young folks knows is that one evening, the body count will begin to rise, fangs will be sharpened and what happens in Vegas will most likely stay there.
Mixing twisted dark humor, ample amounts of male skin and gallons of blood, Scab toys with the vampire movie genre by giving it a deliciously queer sensibility. You’ll never look at mice and milkshakes the same way again.
